Hundreds of people camped overnight outside Liverpool's new Sephora store. Hailey Bieber has sold her Rhode beauty brand to e.l.f. Beauty in a deal worth up to $1 billion (£740 million). The 28-year-old model, who is married to singer Justin Bieber, co-founded the skincare line in 2022. It has grown rapidly, earning more than $200 million in 12 months, and plans to launch in Sephora stores in the US and UK this year. “Our partnership with e.l.f. Beauty is an incredible opportunity to reach a wider segment of our consumer community with more innovative products and expand our global distribution,” she said in a statement. The brand had $1 billion sales in 2023, according to a Nielsen IQ report.
Ben McDonald notes that it is common for smaller brands not to fight these types of disputes against larger companies. “It happens all too often, unfortunately, because they can’t afford to go to a lawyer, or they feel it would be too expensive to deal with,” he told BBC Radio Merseyside. “But if you’ve spent a significant amount of time, effort and money on your brand, even if it’s in the early stages, I think it’s definitely worth looking for someone to help you.”
